Weekly Live Show Recap - Ep. 18 - We Only Get What We Can Handle - Ft. Liam Kurkus
21:03

Introduction:

We all go through life’s situations and circumstances - it’s just life. Some of these situations and circumstances are harder and tougher than others.

In this discussion, we are exploring everything to do with coping. How do we assure ourselves that we do not fall into a victim mentality and how do we find meaning and purpose in every situation? Viktor Frankl in his book “A Man’s Search For Meaning” talks about how if a person is able to find meaning and purpose in any given circumstance or situation, that will help him or her overcome that challenge.

Yermi’s Story:

  • It’s okay to stop and take a step back even when things are going well and you’re achieving success.
  • We have to step up and be willing to show up for what G-d has called of you.
  • G-d will let things work out when they are meant to. Oftentimes things get in the way to build up suspense and value/appreciation
  • Learn to walk by faith.

Situations and Circumstances:

  • It’s not always the MASSIVE situations and circumstances that trip us up. Often times it can be small things like “Is this what I’m meant to do? Is there more?” A simple question.
  • In the mundane, everyday life is when we have to realize that G-d will not ask more of us than we can accomplish.
  • Remember that there is a specific reason why all the small things are happening and why you are experiencing whatever it is that you are experiencing at that moment.
  • Often times big challenges come with support from family and friends. But small challenges don’t necessarily have anyone there to support us.
  • Plan for the best possible scenario. Not just the worst case scenario.
  • Talk more about what the most ideal situation looks like.
  • We are programmed to believe that everything in life needs to be a big story - and we need to craft our story and life in a certain way. In reality, we have to acknowledge OUR story and live it and acknowledge it for what it is.

How To Overcome:

  • There are experiences we have that are the foundation stones of our lives.
  • Our “crises” can often be the things that deepen our well so we have what to pull from for the future.
  • Our movements of greatest frustration and challenge can be the source of our greatest lessons.
  • Value what you’ve experienced and what you have and don’t take it for granted. In the big things and in the small everyday moments.
  • Work-Life Synergy
  • If G-d has given you a journey and path to go on it means He has set the reward at the end.
